Thomas Lewis Waith

1791 - 22nd Sep 1848

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Waith was one of the sons of Thomas Shepherd and Sarah Waith, baptized at St Philip's, Barbados, 6 March 1791. (p. 40) He was cousin of Samson Wood Waith (q.v.)

For the children see Griffiths, family tree, p. 51 and text, pp. 50, 52.

Of the children Thomas Shepherd Waith (named after his grandfather) appears to have inherited Bartlett's: this was his address in 1857 (Griffiths, p. 52). He had married, in 1838, the daughter of Sampson Wood Waith (q.v.), i.e. his second cousin. (p. 53). However, at some point - possibly c. 1868 - he moved to British Guiana (pp. 52-3). He seems to have bought the Richmond Hill estate around that time. (For the compensation record see British Guiana 2370.) He died there, 2 December 1880.
