Richard James Surry Todd, son of Thomas Todd (q.v.), a London merchant, and Elizabeth Rochfort Utten, the daughter of a Jamaican slave-owner. Thomas Todd's will of 1836 characterised him as of Fenchurch Street and as (with Thomas) the man mainly carrying on the business of the firm.
