Biography

William Luther Sewell, third son of Sir Thomas Sewell and Catherine Heath, executor and trustee of the will of his nephew Matthew Gregory Lewis (q.v.) and in that capacity party to a Chancery suit of Lushington v Sewell into which the compensation for Matthew Gregory Lewis' Hordley estate in Jamaica was paid.

  1. Baptised 15/12/1748 at All Hallows by the Tower, London. Parents Thomas Sewell and Catherine Heath of Serjeants Inn in Fleetstreet. Sir Thomas was MP for Harwich 1758-1761 and Winchelsea 1761-1768 and Master of the Rolls 1764-1784. Catherine Heath's father Thomas Heath of Stansted Mountfitchet had himself been MP for Harwich in 1714.
