Biography

Hannah, daughter of James Hilton or Hylton according to the Visitation of England but daughter of William Hilton according to the will of John Hilton of Chester Castle (q.v.), and awarded part of the compensation for Mountain Spring estate in Westmoreland Jamaica with her husband Thomas Shekell (q.v.) by virtue of her ownership. The estate had previously belonged to John Hilton, either her brother or cousin.

  1. Thomas Shekell, son of Thomas Shekell of Pebworth and Elizabeth Steevens, born at Little Comberton Worcs. 10/11/1780. Lord of the Manors of Pebworth and Little Comberton. JP for Worcestershire. Married Hannah (1788-1865) daughter of James Hilton of Tarvin, Co. Chester. The 1841 census shows Thomas aged 55, Hannah aged 50, William aged 25, Charlotte 20 and Mary 20 all living at Pebworth. Will of Thomas Shekell of Pebworth proved 11/08/1852.

  2. Letters of Administration for estate of Hannah Shekell widow late of Little Comberton Worcestershire who died 27/04/1865 granted to Thomas Stevens Shekell son 13/03/1866, effects under £800.
