Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for the Boarded Hall estate in Barbados as trustee for an indenture to settle £150 per annum on Lady Harnage; he was also one of the children entitled to £3000 plus 5% interest on the death of the survivor of Sir George Harnage and Lady Harnage.

  1. Edward Harnage of St George's Hanover Square married Eliza Anne Drury of Sunbury at St Mary Sunbury 03/06/1830. In 1841 and 1851 Edward Harnage 'merchant' aged 40 and then 52 (when born 'London') was living at 18 Beaufoy Terrace St Marylebone with wife Eliza Anne aged 40 and then 51 (when born 'Harrow'), and in 1851 with daughter Mary L., aged 9. Will of Edward Harnage late of Beaufoy Terrace Edgware Road but late of Dean's Yard Westminster who died 25/06/1861 at the Portland Club proved by Eliza Anne the widow relict 24/07/1861 effects under £9000. Administration was granted 03/03/1884 to Anna Harriet Drury, the administratrix of Eliza Anne Harnage, effects £2270.   

  2. Sir George Harnage Baronet (late George Blackman) (1767-1836) was subject to bankruptcy proceedings, 1823-24. Will of Dame Mary Harnage, widow of 18 Beaufoy Terrace proved 26/01/1844. George Blackman was the son of John Lucie Blackman, a West India merchant (d. 1797), and Mary Harnage, the daughter of Henry Harnage of Belleswardine of Belswardyne Shropshire. George Blackman married his cousin (also Mary Harnage) and later assumed the name of Harnage in 1821, and was made a baronet the same year. Edward Harnage was the fourth son of George Blackman and  Mary Harnage. John Lucie Blackman's widow Mary (Edward Harnage's grandmother) married secondly Sir Edmund Nagle.
