  2. Administration of the will of Hon. John Edward Wilson Panton barrister at law of St Catherine Jamaica [made in 1837] was granted 25/08/1855. He left to Mary Ann Thomasina Panton, the widow of his deceased brother George Bryan Panton, an annuity of £150 p.a. currency, and to his wife Sarah Jane Panton an annuity of £200 p.a. currency, to increase to £250 p.a. and £300 p.a. after his debts had been paid. He left £3000 p.a. to each of his children except that child who inherited his sugar estate named Elmwood, which he left with the unfinished term of the apprentices on it to his heir at law, i.e. his eldest surviving child.
