Drawing is the fundamental underpinning of my practice, used as a way of loosening up, deconstructing and collaging my imagery. In oil paint, the drawn line has a freshness which gives the painting a sense of buoyancy and creates an anchor within the work. I am fascinated by everyday lived experiences, clothing and female collaboration. Recently I have utilised my passion and engagement with endurance sport as a subject matter, using my experiences to convey a sense of movement and power. Colour, scale and gesture are essential to describe feelings of celebration, discomfort, pain and pleasure, universal experiences felt by us all. The paintings are a joyful expression of overcoming adversity and relishing in the thrill of painting.
