Counterclaim by Thomson Hankey, John Alexander Hankey and Thomson Hankey junior, of Mincing Lane, merchants, as mortgagees by an assignment of 08/09/1826 and as creditors by several judgements dated 06/04/1830. Counterclaim from Michael Lindsay and William Lindsay, of Cloghans [?], near Tuam Galway, Ireland, as legatees under the will of Thomas Lindsay senior and Thomas Lindsay junior.

Large volume of correspondence from Michael Lindsay, 'stating that he is Executor of will of Thos. Lindsay junior and submitting that he is the proper party to "settle with"'; 'Letter from Michael Lindsay of Cloghans...requesting information and stating that his co-counterclaimants Willm & Patrick Lindsay have no interest in the above claim and that by refusing to withdraw their claim, they prevent him making arrangements with claimant'; 'Report of Assistant Commissioners that two slaves Frank & Francois had been illegally registered and held in slavery' .

T71/1593 p. 297: letter, dated 17/10/1836, to W. Ross Lewin, 14 Shaftesbury Terrace, Pimlico, referring to this claim, and warning him that the Hankeys were intending to issue process on W. Ross Lewin to attend.

T71/1592 p. 195: letter, dated 07/03/1835, from which it appears that W. Ross Lewin, of 17 Upper Berkeley St. West, was acting on behalf of Messrs, 'Lydsy' (Lyndsay).

T71/1592 p. 211: letter, dated 22/08/1835, from the Court of Chancery to Messrs. P. and W. Lindsay, responding to the Lindsays' petition (and offering to put it into a counterclaim form?).
