Joseph Sturge and Thomas Harvey, The West Indies in 1837 (London, Hamilton, Adams, & Co., 1838) pp. xli-xlii: Berwick Estate, Sir A.C GRANT proprietor. Dr Palmer came four times to the estate, only punished people twice. 'The owner said that would not do for him, and complained to the Governor, who ordered Mr COOPER to take charge of Berwick. When he paid his first visit, the owner complained to him that the people had been idle during Dr Palmer's time.'
