Joseph Sturge and Thomas Harvey, The West Indies in 1837 (London, Hamilton, Adams, & Co., 1838) pp. 334-343: an account of a prosecution, on the complaint of an apprentice Joe Dawkins from Spencer's Pen in St Catherine parish, of James Dundass overseer of Molynes in St Andrew, 'belonging to Anthony Davis, residing in England, who is also the proprietor of Spencer's Pen.' The use of iron collars and flogging attested to by many witnesses. Two stipendiaries, Lloyd and Brownson, were dismissed as a result. Dundass convicted of two minor counts of seven, by a sympathetic Grand Jury [foreman of the jury was Thomas Mc. Cornack [sic]].
