Times 31/7/1805 p. 3: Archibald Alves had been a partner with George Baillie [1/3rd:2/3rd]. The suit of Baillie v Baillie and Alves was brought by James Baillie's widow to recover £8000 deposited with Baillie & Alves. James Baillie had left £800,000 to widow and children, 'subject to all the incumbrances incident to West India property', which reduced the estate to around £300,000: 'the deranged affairs' of James Baillie.
