T71/885 : claim from William Campbell (a resident, and agent of T. & W. Earle), as executor of Henry Smithson. Counterclaim by the Winter family, as mortgagees for compensation for 32 of 104 enslaved persons.
T71/1610 (bundle with no claim numbers): letter, dated 10/06/1835, from Geo. Goodman, Leighton Buzzard, stating: I hear £5000 has been awarded to trustees under the will of Henry Smithson; please tell me when it will be paid and at what rate of interest allowed in the meantime; 'a relation of mine who is an annuitant under the will has been written to, to say whether she will take a promissory note for a sum which may be agreed upon (in lieu and in discharge of her annuity) until the compensation money becomes payable, when the money expressed in such note of hand is to be paid to the Annuitant'. T71/1592: letter, dated 13/06/1835, to 'John Goodman', Leighton Buzzard, from the Compensation Commission, in response to him seeking to establish a counterclaim versus the trustees under the will of Henry Smithson.
