'In 1837 Richard and Alexander McCombie were appointed joint Agents for the Colonial Bank (the forerunner of Barclays Bank) which opened its doors in Grenada for the first time that year. McCombie was transferred to St. Lucia in 1842 and Richard was appointed Manager; a position he occupied until he resigned in 1846 (at age 73).', private email from Ashley Steele
