Loss-adjuster founded by William Elmslie of Lloyd's reportedly in 1844 (although this could not have been under the name of William Elmslie & Son, since William Stuart Elmslie the 'Son' was baptised in 1850). Active until at least the late 1980s.
In 1988 it absorbed the business of two loss-adjusting partnerships in London.
