The partnership of Andrew Jordaine and Benj. Shaw as Jordan & Shaw was itself a partner in J & S Liptrap, refiners and distillers, until 1805. It had been started by Richard Shaw, Benjamin Shaw's father, and Andrew Jordaine as tallow factors but evolved into government contractors.
