In the 1820 Slave register, 'John Mayers' registered a large number of enslaved Africans purchased from John Cholmley Roach, apparently located on Graeme Hall. These might be the enslaved people sold [back] by him to John C. Roach in 1826. The same registration entry shows the sale of 38 enslaved Africans to 'Earl Grosvenor'; the equivalent entry by Thomas Forster as attorney of the late Richard Erle Drax Grosvenor shows the seller as John P. Mayers.

Notes

[No name given.] Roach was reported to have given up Graeme Hall as part-exchange for the Ruby estate of Jacob Belgrave (q.v.).
