Notes

This estate is clearly connected to the Bellevue owned by John March in St Catherine, which does not appear in the almanacs after 1828. Bellevue only appears in the almanacs registered to Smith in 1839. At some point between 1829 and 1832, he bought a group of enslaved people who had previously been owned by William Thomas March and his siblings. The ownership of the land of Bellevue and of Union (prevously owned by William Thomas March and his siblings but later registered to John March) has not been untangled.
