Whitehead appeared before the judge and swore that "in consequence of having for a considerable time past conducted the business of John Jarrett Esq. in the parish he hath several times appealed to William West late overseer of Haughton Tower estate the property of the late Montague James Esq. deceased to make and attest a just and true account of the sugar, rum or other produce made on the said Haughton Tower estate in trust to John Jarrett Esq. for the year 1780." John Josselyn was the book keeper or distiller on the estate.
