1791 - 1843
Née Walcott; the trustees of her marriage settlement with Samuel Matthew Clogstoun (q.v.) were awarded part of the compensation for Samuel Harman's estate on Antigua. Of her children with Samuel Matthew Clogstoun: Anthony Clogstoun became Governor of Gambia and later Provost Marshal of Trinidad where he died in 1851; Herbert Clogstoun was awarded the Victoria Cross in India in 1859 and was killed there in 1862 (one of his daughters married Sir Elwin Mitford Palmer, who has an entry in the ODNB as 'colonial official' and a second was the mother of the 6th Baron Somers, in the ODNB as 'chief scout for Great Britain and the British Commonwealth and empire, and colonial governor)'; and Augusta married her first cousin George Wilder, son of George Lodowick Wilder (q.v.).
T71/877 Antigua no. 270. Major Edmund Yeamans Walcott of Woolwich Kent and George Lodowick Wilder of Downing Street London, 'trustees under marriage settlement of Samuel M. Clogstoun and Miss Caroline J Walcott, for two legacies of £3000 each under the will of the claimant's [Samuel Harman] grandfather.' Vere Langford Oliver History of Antigua Vol. I p. 139 shows Samuel Clogstown marrying 'Caroline Ann Sympson', daughter of Edmund Walcot Sympson of Winkton and Catherine Anne Lyons, dau. of John Lyons of Antigua 'by Jane Harman his wife.'
