Biography

Awarded, together with her husband Sir Phineas Riall (q.v.) in right of his wife, the compensation for enslaved people 'hired upon Peru Estate' in Trelawny, with her sister Mary James Scarlett as heiress of Elizabeth V Scarlett.

  1. The daughter of Elizabeth Virgo Scarlett (d. 1821), who owned and ran Thicketts Estate, Peru and Green Vale in Jamaica after the death of her husband James in 1798, and whose papers are in the archives of the University of Hull.

  2. Death of Elizabeth Riall aged 74 registered Tadcaster Q1 1869. Will of Dame Elizabeth Virgo Scarlett formerly of Eaton Place Pimlio but late of Hazelwood Tadcaster Yorkshire who died 04/01/1869 proved 29/01/1869 effects under £14,000.
