Biography

  1. This is very likely the woman described by Irish-born landowner Patrick Joseph Purcell as "free negro woman Franchine". Franchine was his 'housekeeper' and bore him six "coloured" sons one of whom was William Purcell (q.v.).

  2. Fanchine Purcell is listed as owning one enslaved woman in the 1823 Grenada Slave Register. She did not sign, but rather made her mark.
