Possibly the son and certainly the partner of James Hyde (q.v.).
Described as 'a leading merchant in Belize, himself a slave-owner' and author of a letter defending the treatment of the enslaved in Honduras.
Death "At Green Hills, Melbourne, Port-Philip, New South Wales, on the 30th May last. George Hyde, Esq., formerly of Honduras, and Dunoon, Argyllshire."
