Biography

  1. 'Whitehall January 14 1807: The King has granted unto Francis French, of Islington, in the county of Middlesex, Gentleman, only son of John French, late of Reading, in the county of Berks, by Sarah his wife, sister of James Flutter Steveens [sic], late of the City and parish of Kingston, in the Island of Jamaica, Merchant, deceased, His Royal license and Authority, that he may take and use the surnames of Flutter and Steevens, instead of the surname of French, in compliance with an Injunction contained in the last Will and Testament of his said late maternal Uncle James Flutter Steevens, bearing Date the 10th April 1805: And also to order that this His Majesty's Concession and Declaration be registered in His College of Arms.'

  2. Died Bethnal Green 3rd Q 1850. Possible death of daughter, St Giles in the Fields No. 1396 Ann Steevens Eagle Street St Andrews Holborn 11/05/1817 aged 5.
