Slave-owner in Jamaica, apparently resident. John Scott was awarded the compensation for 173 enslaved people on the Wanstead estate. In the 1831 Jamaica Almanac, John Scott was shown against Wanstead, York Pen and Green River with 85, 51 and 26 enslaved people respectively. Neither York Pen nor Green River has been found in the compensation records to date, and it is reasonable to infer that the compensation claim for Wanstead was a combined claim.
