Grandson of Wine Hodgson formerly Tracey (q.v.). His son John Stennett was commercially active in Brisbane in the second half of the 19th century: John Stennett's son Tracey Stennett reflected the continuation of the naming practises of the predecessor Jamaican slave-owning families. No death-date or will has been found for him to date: his widow died in 1886 at Liberty Hill.
The University of Glasgow shows '1816 GEORGE STENNETT 1st son of George merchant of Jamaica. Otherwise George Radcliffe Stennett, Student of King's College, Aberdeen, 1817-19; M. F. Edin. 1826. (9673).
Georgiana was presumably his second wife. Winefield Tracey, daughter of George and Avis Stennett, was born in 1810 and baptised in 1811 in St Ann, Jamaica. Marriage "At Wem, Salop, W. C. Macdougall, Esq. of Lincoln's Inn, to Wine Field Tracey, youngest daughter of the late G. Stennett, Esq. of Jamaica."
The Charterhouse Register lists George Radcliffe Stennett as the 1st son of George Stennett, merchant, of Jamaica. After school at Charterhouse he was educated at Glasgow University, King's College, Aberdeen and Edinburgh University (M.D., 1826). Subsequently a surgeon in Jamaica.
The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842-1954) Monday 8 September 1902 'QUEENSLAND. DEATH OF MR. JOHN STENNETT. Mr John Stennett, a well-known figure in the commercial and social life of Brisbane, died on Saturday afternoon For some years he had been in ill health and last week a severe operation was performed from which he failed to rally. Mr Stennett was born in Jamaica, and in his early life he spent 18 years at sea. He married a daughter of Dr. Elliott, principal partner in the well-known firm of Elliott Brothers, Limited, wholesale druggists, and giving up the sea became associated with the management of the firm's business in Brisbane'; DAILY GLEANER AND DECORDOVA'S ADVERTISING SHEET 'May 20, 1886 Died On the 17th inst., at Liberty Hill, in the Parish of St. Ann, Georgiana, widow of the late George Radcliffe Stennett, M. D., aged 73',
