1780 - ????
Resident slave-owner and mortgagee in Jamaica, son of George Scott (q.v.). He matriculated Christ Church Oxford in 1799 aged 18.
“Several honourable characters from among the proprietors from pure motives truly sought the spiritual welfare of the slaves. Foremost among these was H. Scott, esq, who, with his pious lady, resided on their property at Hopeton. They felt the claim the slaves had on them and applied to the Brethren to have a missionary stationed at Hopeton. In 1827 a mission was established at New Carmel in the immediate neighbourhood, the land bring made over by Mr Scott.”
