Son of Abraham Hodgson (q.v., 1765-1837, Member of Assembly for St Mary's in Jamaica), and Jane Sarah Tracy.
Married Elizabeth Lee Clarke (of Hyde, daughter of George Hyde Clarke of Hyde Hall) at Stockport Cheshire 09/08/1831. Elizabeth Lee Clarke, daughter of Sarah Lee of Hyde Hall, born 25/08/1808 and privately baptised, received into the church, 21/09/1808 at Denton, Lancashire. Elizabeth Lee Clarke was described as 'my reputed natural daughter by' Sarah Lee, with whom George Hyde Clarke was residing when he made his will in 1823, when Elizabeth Lee was 'between fourteen and fifteen years of age'.
Isaac Scott Hodgson appears in 1829 St Mary's Slave register as owner of 4 slaves including Abraham.
No apparent entry in 1841 census (the www.ancestry.co.uk entry is a false drop). 1851 census Isaac S Hodgson Visitor annuitant aged 42 born Jamaica with wife Elizabeth aged 41 born Cheshire Hyde, staying in Leamington Priors with Jane Cramond [sp?]; 1861 census Isaac S Hodgson fundholder aged 53 living at Sodylt at Coed y Raith, Ellesmere, Shropshire with wife Elizabeth and grand-daughter Jane H [?] Horsfall aged 5. 1871 census Isaac S Hodgson landowner aged 63 born Jamaica living at Sodylt Hall with wife Elizabeth aged 62. 1881 census magistrate aged 73 with wife Elizabeth, and six servants.
Will of Isaac Scott Hodgson late of Sodylt Hall in the township of Dudleston in the county of Salop who died 4 November 1881 at Sodylt Hall was proved at Shrewsbury by George Henry Horsfall of Larkfield Aigburth near the City of Liverpool one of the executors; personal estate £18868 15s 2d. (George Henry Horsfall had married the Hodgson's daughter Sarah Jane in Liverpool 06/04/1853, according to the Taylor family tree pages in www.ancestry.co.uk). Isaac Scott Hodgson's paternal grandmother was Mary Horsfall, daughter of John Horsfall, according to the Taylor family tree pages in www.ancestry.co.uk.
According to another online family tree, Abraham Hodgson's first cousin was Charles Horsfall of Liverpool, and together they by 1813 were active in Horsfall and Hodgson. An unsourced document on this site also says that Abraham Hudson (sic) was the father-in-law of Thomas Phillpotts in Fenchurch Street; the site also names Henry Cox as a son-in-law and puts Abraham Hodgson's compensation payments at £31,374, 76% coming from enslaved people owned by his debtors.
