Biography

Awarded the compensation for most of the enslaved people on the Pitfour estate in St James Jamaica. The compensation for the remainder of the enslaved people on the estate was awarded to her daughter, Susannah Lawrence Crang (q.v.).

  1. Widow of Alexander Balcarres Hay. She was in Jamaica at the time of the 1817 slave registration but an absentee by 1832. Death of Elizabeth Laurence [sic] Hay registered Bristol Q1 1847. Will of Elizabeth Lawrence Hay, widow of St Augustine the Less Bristol proved 28/01/1847. In it she left her real estate in Jamaica to her grandson Findlater Crang and her personalty among her 8 grandchildren (including Findlater Crang).

  2. Elizabeth Lawrence Allen married Alexander Balcarres Hay 18/06/1782 in St James, Jamaica. Elizabeth Ogilvie Hay baptised in St James 1783 and buried there in January 1792. Another Elizabeth Ogilvie Hay with the same parents was baptised in St James in May 1792. Alexander was buried in St James in 1807.
