Awarded part of the compensation for Provost's Rock River in Clarendon Jamaica with Francis Whitmarsh (q.v.), a London barrister, as owners-in-fee. A futher award for the estate was a made to a group of women surnamed Thomas, presumably sisters: the estate had been shown against the name of Hampson P. Thomas or Hampson Provost [sic] Thomas.
Capt W. Thomas was in London to collect compensation but nothing definitive has yet been identified about him.
Col. Hampson Prevost Thomas died at Soleure Switzerland, late of Royal Waggon Train died 25/11/1834. His will was not proved until 16/05/1851.
Conceivably this is the William Thomas, former Captain in His Majesty's Service, of Walcot Bath Somerset whose will was proved 04/07/1848. In 1841 William Thomas aged 75 Independent was living at Alexander Buildings Walcot Bath with Harriet Thomas aged 50 and Susannah Whitmarsh aged 25, none born in parish.
