Awarded the compensation for two enslaved people in Kingston Jamaica.

  1. Described as an absentee in the compensation records, this is almost certainly the same man as the George Ross, Major in the Army of Brompton whose will was proved 15/07/1836. 'June 14 [1836]. At Brompton, Major George Ross. He was appointed Ensign of the 6th W.I. Regt. Lieut. 1801, Capt. 1804, brevet Major 1814 and Capt. 7th vet. Batt. 1820.'

  2. The will of George Ross Major in the Army of [Alexander Square] Brompton Middlesex was proved 15/07/1836. He left his wife an annuity of £700 p.a.. His monetary legacies included: Margaret Ross of Kingston Jamaica widow, reputed daughter of his brother Robert Ross £2000; Mary Ross of Kingston Jamaica spinster, reputed daughter of his late brother William Ross £1000; George Ross, reputed son of his brother John Ross £500.
