Biography

  1. Rachel, Sarah and David Dias Fernandes were the legatees of Esther Dias Fernandes (who died in Jamaica in 1825). This Esther was the widow of Jacob Dias Fernandes (q.v.).

  2. Rachel, Sarah and David Dias Fernandes were the children of Isaac Dias Fernandes and his wife Esther (this Esther died in Whitechapel in 1853). In 1851, Esther Dias [sic - Fernandes not written], widow, age 88, gentlewoman, was living at 54 Great Prescott Street, Whitechapel, with her children Rebecca Dias, age 70, gentlewoman, born Jamaica, David Dias, age 66, merchant, born Jamaica, Sarah Aguilar, widow, age 64, gentlewoman, born Jamaica, and Rachel Dias, age 59, gentlewoman, born Middlesex, plus a lodger and two servants.

  3. The executor of David Dias Fernandes was his nephew Joseph Henry Aguilar of 151 Albany Street, Regent's Park.

  4. The estate of Sarah Aguilar late of 54 Great Prescott Street, Middlesex, widow, who died 29/04/1854 at Great Prescott Street was proved in 1858 by Emanuel Abraham Aguilar and Joseph Henry Aguilar, children of the deceased. Effects under £200. Resworn £300.
