Biography

Absentee slave-owner, awarded the compensation for two enslaved people on Schaw Castle as owner-in-fee: the bulk of the compensation for the estate was paid to Alexander Campbell.

  1. Conceivably, the John Sauchie Schaw who in 1841 and 1851 was living on the Isle-of-Man, a half-pay Army Officer. Will of John Fauchie [sic] Schaw of Lezayre Isle of Man proved 23/09/1854. The will does not refer to Jamaican property.
