John Eykyn Hovenden (given only as John Eykyn in the Register of Claims), awarded part of the compensation for Water Valley in St Mary Jamaica with Charles R. Simpson as trustees of the marriage settlement of Col. Farquharson and Miss Nasmyth.

In 1861, the pair were living in Bath and were joined by Cordelia Hovenden’s niece, Eliza D’Oyley James, aged 31, born in Jamaica (daughter of Hon. Hugo and Amelia James née Jackson). John Hovenden was therefore brother-in-law of Hon. Hugo James.
