Awarded the compensation for Retreat in St Thomas-in-the-Vale as owner-in-fee: a returnee to Britain. His children with his first wife Elizabeth Sophia Jones were counterclaimants on Peartree Grove.
A genealogical source shows Thomas Rossiter born 1772 in Tiverton, married (1) Elizabeth Sophia Jones in Spanish Town 08/12/1796 (and with her had several daughters born in Jamaica) and, after Elizabeth Sophia Jones' death in England in childbirth in 1809, (2) Catherine Whitter c. 1810 in England, d. 1839 buried St Georges Churchyard, Tiverton.
Death of Thomas Rossiter registered at Taunton Devon Q1 1839.
Will of Thomas Rossiter of Tiverton Devon proved 08/02/1840. He said that the most part of his present property had been subject to prior settlement by him and that whereas he had felt justified in making that settlement 'yet from the untoward circumstances since happening' he hoped that his wife and children would be satisified therewith. The property over which he retained power to will he left in trust for his five daughters by his first wife.
