Resident attorney and slave-owner. Alexander Innes of Banffshire recorded his meeting with Alexander McInnes on his visit to Jamaica in 1823-1824, including their visit together to Farm Pen, of which McInnes was attorney, to Palmer Hut and Rose Hall 'managed by McInnes', and to McInnes' own Mount Raza: Innes commented that McInnes was 'highly respected and [has] accumulated a large fortune.'
'A highly-experienced Scots born managing attorney attached to the commercial house of Christie & Taylor, who were entrusted by absentee plantation owners to oversee their Jamaican interests.'
Vere Langford Oliver recorded a monument or plaque to Hon. Alexander McInnes 09/09/1836, custos rotulorum of St Thomas-in-the-Vale and major-general in the militia in the 65th year of his age, 44 of which he has resided in this island.
