Biography

London East India broker, partner with his brother Horatio Ripley (q.v.).

  1. Horatio and Frederick Peter Ripley counterclaimed with Sir Charles Cockerell & Co. as vendees of a currently unknown estate in Mauritius. It is not clear whether they were formally partners in Sir Charles Cockerell & Co. The estate may have been La Poudre D'Or in Riviere du Rempart, previously been owned by the late Jeanne Romanet and then acquired by George Rougier Lagane (q.v.) around 1830.

  2. Born 01/03/1790 at baptised 03/04/1790 at St Mary Abchurch, London, son of John Richard and Harriet Ripley. Married Maria Nottidge at Stretham in 1822.

  3. London, December 31, 1827. NOTICE is hereby given, that the Copartnership business heretofore carried on by us the undersigned as East India Brokers, was this day dissolved by mutual consent, so far as regards the undersigned John Anthony Wiss who retires from business ; and the said business will in future be carried on by the undersigned Horatio Ripley, Frederick Peter Ripley, and Richard William Ripley, under the firm of Ripley, Brothers.

  4. Will of Frederick Peter Ripley Esquire who died 07/11/1860 at Margate proved 15/12/1860 by Maria Ripley of The Lodge Carshalton, effects under £25,000.

Cazenove, represented in Mauritius by Messrs. Jerome and Joseph Cayron Brothers. Mentions that the plantations of the late Jeanne Romanet Riviere du Rempart, Mauritius have been taken by Joseph Pons Blancard and Emile Thevenin on the terms of liquidating the outstanding debts; that Messrs. Cazenove have since been declared bankrupt, and that Horatio Ripley and Frederick Peter Ripley of Lawrence Pountney Lane, London, merchants, now have an interest in the said debt to the order of £549 12s 6d.
