Third son of Rev. James John Rowe (q.v.), listed in the 1881 census at the Rectory, Morchard Bishop, Devon, as "Landowner New Zealand", although his occupation in the 1851 census (at Mount le Grand, Heavitree, Exeter) was "Proprietor and Farmer of Land" and in 1891 he was a "Stock Farmer".
