Henry Bowyer Joseph Lane

Son of Henry Bowyer Lane (q.v.). Prominent architect in Toronto in the 1840s.

Born in 1817 or 1818 in Corfu, where his father was stationed. Lived in Devon for most of his childhood though his family had links to Staffordshire and Surrey.

Moved to Coburg, Upper Canada, by 1841. Designed St Peter's parochial school and St Peter's Church in Coburg. Lived in Toronto 1842-1847 where he designed the Market-house and city hall, the Anglican Church of St George the Martyr and major additions to Osgoode Hall.

Back to England in 1847. Living at 6 Wellington Road, Handsworth, Stafforshire at the time of the 1851 census, where his occupation was given as "Proprietor of Coalmines".
