Clergyman resident at the time of compensation, claimed unsuccessfully the compensation for the enslaved people on Grand Sable on St Vincent as owner-in-fee.
T71/892 St Vincent no. 455. His letter re political climate in St Vincent of 4/1/1834 forwarded by Thos Weatherall to S.Duckworth, Lincoln's Inn; Thos Browne reported to have been given the living of parish in which Grand Sable was located, worth £700 or £800. Rev Thomas Alexander Browne was resident, visited on Grand Sable by Colthurst pp 191-197. p 192 'Mr Browne's conversation is lively and gentleman-llke, and exceedingly entertaining.' But Browne was opposed to ending of apprenticeship. p 192: 'resisting the wishes of the British people in a matter upon which the whole nation has sets their hearts.'
