James Crocome

James Crocome of Bath Somerset counterclaimed apparently unsuccessfully for part of the compensation for the enslaved people on Harmony Hall on St Vincent: his claim was for £425 13s 4d due as account to 8/11/1834 and £40 1/2 years annuity since. The compensation was paid to the Baillie merchants of Bristol.

1. Crocome was probably claiming under the will of James Choppin of Bath, whose will was proved 11/09/1824. Crocome appears from genealogical sites to have been the son of Elizabeth Crocome and the natural son or stepson of James Choppin. The Thomas Choppin (q.v) who also claimed on the award as executor of James Choppin was probably James Crocome's half-brother.
