Nathaniel Domett

London shipowner and merchant, of George Yard Lombard Street, one of a group of apparently unsuccessful counterclaimants identified as assignees of 'Messrs Plummer and Wildman' for the compensation for the enslaved people on Richmond Hill in Jamaica and (more accurately) as assignees of 'John Plummer and William Wilson' for the compensation for a second award, on Nevis. John Plummer (q.v.) had been MP for Hindon 1820-1826.

1. Nathaniel Domett was the father of Alfred Domett (1811-1887), Prime Minister of New Zealand 1862-1863.

2. Burial of Nathaniel Domett of Grove Hill Terrace aged 84 at St Giles Camberwell 20/01/1849.

3. Although in theory this could be Nathaniel Domett (c. 1794-1839), the son of Nathaniel Domett (1765-1849), the Nathaniel Domett of George Yard Lombard Street was identified as Nathaniel Domett the elder in January 1838.
