Biography
John Cobb of Hawkhurst [Kent] counterclaimed unsuccessfully as assignee of a mortgage on Anchovy Bottom in St James Jamaica. His path to the assignment is currently unknown.
- In 1851 John Cobb 'land occupier and owner' aged 80 born Lydd Kent was living at New Lodge Hawkhurst with a visitor and servants. Death of John Cobb registered at Cranbrook Kent Q1 1856; Will of John Cobb of Hawkhurst Kent proved 21/02/1856. After specific monetary legacies and the bequest of his land at Romney Marsh, he left his residual estate, including his house in Hawkhurst called New Lodge, to his nephew Thomas Cobb, then living with him, the son of his brother Henry William Cobb.
