Husband of Eliza nee Chalmers, counterclaimed with his two brothers-in-law, the three (including Eliza) the children of Joseph Chalmers, who had sold Reliance to Simon Fraser and taken back a mortgage over £7400, the unpaid portion of the purchase price. Given as of Shepton Mallet in the counterclaim, although no trace of him or of Eliza Melville has yet been found in Britain.
