William Holden

William Holden of New City Chambers was the Secretary to the West India Merchants between at least 1817 and 1827, and subsequently Secretary of the Exchange Loan Commission at the same address. He does not appear to have been a slave-owner himself but acted as an assignee of 'slave-property.'

1. The Richmond and Howards estate on Antigua was transferred to Edward Ellice (q.v.) and William Holden of City Chambers in 1816 by William Maxwell MP (q.v.). Ellice and William Holden were characterised as assignees of Henderson and [Archibald] Neilson [of Upper Charlotte Street].
