Thomas Wilson of Tobago
Profile & Legacies Summary
???? - 1801
Biography
Not apparently among the earliest land purchasers in Tobago, but Thomas Wilson was among the signatories of the 1781 address of inhabitants on the departure of Lt Gov. Ferguson. Brother of Philip Wilson (q.v.), father of Rev. William Sloane Wilson and of Matilda Euphemia Michell (nee Wilson), and uncle of Martha Euphemia Wilson (each of whom q.v.).
- What are recorded as two separate wills - Thomas Wilson, planter of Scarborough Island of Tobago, proved 12/03/1802; and Thomas Wilson 'painter' [sic] of Island of Tobago, proved 23/12/1801 - on inspection turned out to be for the same man, who seems to have died between Tobago and London. The will(s) provide £600 p.a. to his widow Martha, £4000 to his daughter Mathilda, and identifies his sister Euphemia Gloag and sons William Sloane Wilson, Thomas Douglas Wilson and Philip Wilson.
