???? - 1829
Possibly the husband of Harriett Greaves (nee Griffith). (q.v.)
In a Levy Book list for St James, Barbados, 1822, Greaves was listed as owning 28 enslaved and 100 acres of land. The name of the estate (or estates) was not given.
By 1826, Greaves was listed as the owner of The Hope plantation (name identified in the compensation records) with 102 enslaved people. This register gives the previous total (from 1823) as 121 enslaved people. Note that 3 enslaved were 'in right of marriage with Harriett Griffith' and 26 sold to William Hinds (Mount Poyer).
In 1829, Greaves registered 102 enslaved people on the same estate. In 1832, 96 enslaved people were registered by William Bovell as the administrator of the estate of Charles W. Greaves.
Each slave register locates The Hope in St Lucy, Barbados.
Charles Whitfoot Greaves, identified as the owner of The Hope in 1817, was probably the same as was buried, St Lucy, Barbados, 30 September 1829. However, he was probably not the same as appears to have married at the age of 17 to Frances Ann Lawrence, St Michael, Barbados, 1 December 1812.
