Of Marylebone in London, brother of Job Ede (q.v.) and almost certainly the London West India merchant, who was a partner in Bond and Pearse (q.v.) until 1833.

The will of John Ede of Marylebone proved 11/11/1840 identifies his wife as Philadelphia and his brother as Job Ede of Clayfield, and details legacies to his childen including an annuity of £300 p.a. to his son John William Ede, £100 p.a. to each of his daughters Louisa, Charlotte, Harriet and Frances and £6000 to be placed in trust for his daughter Philadelphia, wife of Benjamin Oliveira.
John and Job Ede's sister Charlotte (1784-1875) formerly of Ickenham and then of Hillingdon died leaving £180,000.
