Owner of Craigston estate in Carriacou in 1817. Father of William Urquhart of Craigston (d. 1847, q.v.), and son of William Urquhart of Craigston (1741-1796).
Inherited Craigston and Meldrum estates in Carriacou, as well as the Scottish property of his father William Qrquhart in 1821. Lived at the family seat of Craigston Castle in Aberdeenshire.
Letters to Urquhart from his estate managed William Robertson, 1804-1812 are held in the archives at Craigston Castle, including one from William Nash, Rector of Carriacou, describing the brutal punishment of enslaved people from Urquhart's estates who had complained that Robertson had withheld goods from Urquhart intended for them. Robertson described this as an attempted insurrection.
