Biography

Owner of Lambeau estate on Tobago at the 1819 registration. Harriet Stewart, guardian of the heir-at-law to Archibald Stewart, James Mitchell Stewart, claimed unsuccessfully for the compensation for the enslaved people on Lambeau. To date nothing further has been traced of this Archibald Stewart (possibly connected to Archibald Stewart of Tobago (q.v.) who died in 1779), nor - despite his unusual name - James Mitchell Stewart.
