Elizabeth Ann Flowers (née Clark)

1790 - 1872

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Elizabeth Ann Flowers, nee Clark, married first John Carter Palmer and secondly John Flowers (q.v.). She was the legatee of £3000 under the will of her half-brother John Houstoun (q.v.) and also claimed as owner-in-fee for the compensation for 10 enslaved people in Trelawny, compensation for which was paid to her husband John Flowers as trustee under a deed of M. [possibly W.] R. Clark, probably her brother. It is not clear how contentious was the award to her husband: the couple had certainly separated by the late 1830s.

  1. In 1851 and 1871 Elizabeth Ann Flowers was shown living at Tipton, Staffordshire (aged 61 and 80 respectively) with her children Elizabeth Ann and William Clark. Death of Elizabeth Ann Flowers registered at Dudley, Staffordshire Q2 1872.
